INTSOY: Introduction to Soybean

Course Overview:

This course provides an overview of many aspects of the soybean industry. The course will explore the quality, nutrition and utilization of soybeans in human and animal foods, and focus on soybean in a wide variety of food products. Participants will learn from soybean producers and industry experts through lectures, demonstrations, farm visits and plant tours. The course takes place in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota.

Objectives:

  • Learn from industry professionals about soybeans and how they are processed into high protein meal, oil and other ingredients for uses in human and animal food products, and industrial products.
  • Learn about the making of food products including traditional Asian soyfoods, baked products, snack foods, texturized proteins, meat improvers and extenders, beverages, and more!
  • Participate in the hands-on processing of soy foods and animal foods.
  • Learn about the current status and future potential of the soy in the global food and feed industries.

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed for entrepreneurs, researchers, marketers, and anyone in agriculture and human and animal food industries who look for new opportunities to start or grow businesses utilizing soybeans and soy-based ingredients. This course is a great opportunity to experience what’s going on in the soybean and food industries.

How Do I Register?

This course will be offered in-person only, and registrations are limited to 30 participants. Space will fill up quick, so we encourage you to enroll early!

Included in the registration fee are course materials, lunches and refreshments during the course. Airfare and hotel rooms are not included in the registration fee.

Transportation:

The course starts at 8:30 AM on August 12 in Fargo, North Dakota and concludes at 4:00 PM on August 16 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Participants will fly into Fargo International Airport (FAR) on August 11 and fly out of Minneapolis Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) on August 17 (some may be able to fly out late on August 16).

Transportation between the airport and hotel will be provided by NCI on August 11. NCI will provide daily transportation during the course, including travel between Fargo, North Dakota; Brookings, South Dakota; and Minneapolis, Minnesota. More information will be provided prior to the start of the course.

Hotel Information:

NCI will reserve hotel rooms for all participants at the various locations during the course.  After registering, an email will be sent to you with more information.

Cancellation Policies:

Requests to cancel a registration must be received on or before April 13, 2024 to receive a full refund. Requests to cancel a registration on or after April 14, 2024 will receive credit for a future NCI course that is good for 1 year. If NCI is forced to cancel this course, all registered participants will be immediately contacted, and each will receive a full refund within 10 business days.
